The Los Altos Art Club offers many ways for its members to showcase their art. Besides a personal gallery page on the club's website, there are various shows during the year. The club also works with various local sites (venues) where members display art and can offer it for sale. In addition, members can bring art to the monthly member meetings and enter it in the member competition. For details on these exhibiting opportunities, click one of the links below.

LAAC Exhibit Venues 2011

The Los Altos Art Club works with public business venues to provide display areas for the exhibit of members’ work on a scheduled basis.  We are fortunate to include highly visible and professional locations.  Work selection, framing, hanging, deadlines, transportation and publicity are a few of the tasks that many take for granted yet are fundamental activities for the working artist.  This program allows participating artists to gain exposure and experience in the professional display of their artwork.

Monthly Competition

There is an art competition at each month's regular meeting where members can bring a work of art. Entry in the competition is voluntary. Members enjoy seeing each other's works and vote for their favorites. At year end, the artist with the most winning art pieces becomes the "artist of the year".

Monthly Competition Rules:

  • The themes for the monthly competition are announced in the Newsletter at least three months in advance.
  • All artwork displayed at LAAC monthly business meetinga and entered in the "Artist of the Month" competition must be original artwork.
  • The monthly subject matter category guidelines are required to be followed.
  • Submissions must be framed or conform to a "Museum Wrap"*, be refined, and be family acceptable.
  • Only one painting/participant is allowed.
  • The judgment of the Monthly Competition Chairman resolves all issues.
  • Please bring your artwork in before 6:45 PM to allow hanging and set-up time.
  • Winners are chosen by secret ballot by all members present at the meeting. One vote per member is allowed.
  • Ribbons are awarded for First, Second and Third Place.

*Refers to picture canvas wrapping around the sides of the stretcher bars and fastened on the back. This allows for a clean standing edge, not requiring a frame. The edges are painted as if in the picture subject matter or in a solid color that complements the artwork.
